PRESS RELEASE   18 / 06 / 2010

Population Statistics achieve new levels of intimacy.

In a complete upgrade of their databases, the British Population Survey have just released their latest data with a comprehensive set of Geodemographic models integrated into their surveys.

The BPS release of data for May 2010, now including over 200,000 interviews, now contains 3 ACORN classification models, 3 MOSAIC models, CENSATION Affluence and Lifestage, and the full OAC model. These models have also now been included in the free 2008 databases, available to anyone from the BPS website.

Speaking as the databases were released, Mike Hare, BPS Research Director, explained “This is the first time that anyone who needs accurate, topical and trendable research data has been able to review it through such a full range of public sector, academic and commercial Classification models. With the new release these models can be compared and contrasted with each other, and a huge range of additional information can be analysed in respect of every single market segment.”

For the Marketing Industry, the full classifications have also been added to the British Marketing Survey, allowing insight into its full range of channel responsivity and acceptability information, alongside the industry sector analysis, by all of the models. Remarkably, the only thing that the BPS has not revised with these latest releases is the price for access to the latest data.
