Unemployment Set to Continue to Fall in June

ONS Unemployment figures for May, released today, show the rate of Unemployment fell to 7.8% in May. Figures from The British Population Survey (BPS) reinforce this downward trend and show it continuing into June.

The BPS figures for June show that the rate of unemployment is 7.7% (ONS will announce their June figure on 11 August)

The BPS figures are compiled using entirely face to face in home interviews as opposed to ONS who use a combination of face to face and telephone interviews.

The full data for June 2010, and back data for every month from January 2008, is available in a fully analysable format from www.thebps.co.uk. The complete 2008 data is available free of charge, whilst the full data up to June 2010 costs £125.
